Kryvyi Rig

Is known since 1775 as a Cossack settlement. By the legent it named in honour of city founder, the Cossack Kryvyi Rig.

The soviet emblem

It was confirmed at 1972. The shield per bend by azure and gules. In the first part is argent chemical factory, in the second part is mine buildings and waste banks. The gules chief is charged by the argent city name on the Ukrainian language.

The modern emblem

The modern emblem was approved by the solution є30 of ХХІІІ city council convocation at May 20, 1998. A shield per pale by vert and gules. In a shield are argent Cossack powder-flask with three or oak leaves and two acorns.

Cossack powder-flask made of horns, which one first of all indicates a title of city, and also on famous past of land (till 1775 - Zaporiz'ka Sich territory), legend of the founder of city the Cossack named Kryvyi Rih, and other version about a parentage of a title of city - formation of curve cape at coalescence Inhulets' and Sacsagan' rivers. Powder-flask also speaks about a more potential and capabilities of city, capability to operating and development: - "There is still powder in powder-flask!", also resembles of call-up "Hold a powder dry always!"

The or oak trifolium with two acorns is character of force, strength, spiritual revival. The trifolium by the form resembles trident, Ukrainian symbol. Besides the trifolium it symbolizes past, modern and future, their continuous connection.

The vert colour means welfare, will, hope, pleasure. Gules means bravery, love, magnanimity. Or means force, accuracy. Argent means purity of thoughts and operatings. The autors are M.Dabizha, V.Bakaltsev, S.Sedneva, V.Tokar.

The gonfalon

The gonfalon was approved by the solution є30 of ХХІІІ city council convocation at May 20, 1998. A square panel per pale on green and red parts, in which one powder-flask, above her yellow oak trifolium with two acorns.

The stamp

The stamp was approved by the solution 30 of ХХІІІ city council convocation at May 20, 1998. In the center of the stamp is a contour of powder-flask, above it are trifolium with two acorns. A placard on a circle is "The stamp of Kryvyi Rig city".
