Simferopol`

It appeared in the 3d century B.C. as a Scythian town - Neapol'. Since the XVII century it was a Tartars settlement Ak-Mechet'. After joining Russian Empire the town has got the name of Simferopol'.

The emblem of the Russian period

 

 

The emblem of the Russian period was confirmed on the 17th of November 1844. A per fess shield with azure and or. In the upper part there was an or cross and in the lower part the vert Chatyrdag - the highest mountain of the Crimea Mountains.

B.Kene project

 

 

In the 1859 B.Kene worked out a project of a new emblem of the town: in an or field is a sable eagle with two heads, on a his chest is azure escutcheon with an or eight-final cross. The shield is crowned with an argent mauerkrone with three embattlements and within two or vines entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St.Alexander. The emblem was not approved.

The soviet emblem

 

 

It was confirmed at September, 21st, 1971 by the decision of city council II session of XIII convocation. In an azure board with the gules chief are five or bees around of a gules circle with or date "1784". The chief is charged by or sickle and hammer. Bees on a board mean the history of city and its name. The circle in the center of an emblem characterizes the city as a regional administrative centre. Bees and a circle in the center form a flower are the symbol of capital of blossoming territory. The authors are L.Labenok, N.Ljadovs'kyi, L.Fruslov.
