Lubny

For the first time it was mentioned in 1107.

In January 1591 king Sigizmund III granted the Magdeburg Right, a seal and an emblem with a picture of an arm with a dagger and a bear's head in base.

Since 1658 it was a regimental town.

The emblem of the Russian period

 

 

The emblem of the Russian period was confirmed on the 4th of June 1782. In an azure field there was an arm holding an or mace.

B.Kene project

 

 

At 03.09.1865 B.Kene worked out a project of a new emblem of the town. In an azure field the retiring at the left hand in or clothes with argent stripe. In the canton there was an emblem of Poltavs'ka province.The shield is crown with an argent mauerkrone with three towers and frame with two or ears, which are twine with the ribbon of the Order of St.Alexander.

The soviet emblem

 

 

It was confirmed at October, 17th, 1986 by the decision of VIII city council session of XIX convocation. In a gules field with an azure base is the circle formed by half of the argent camomile and sable gear. In the circle is the argent image of an electric pulse. Above circle is the argent city name in the Ukrainian language. The argent chief is charged by two horizontal spears. The board is framed by argent border. The author is V.Semenjuta.

The modern emblem

 

 

On the 29th of September 1992 city council session confirmed a modern emblem. In an azure field there was an arm holding an or mace.
