Kobeliaky

The first mention refers to 1647. The origin of the name comes from the river Kobeliachka on

which the town is situated.

Since 1654 it was a squadron town of Poltava regiment.

The emblem of the Russian period

 

 

The emblem of the Russian period was confirmed in April 1842 and had a picture of the events of the Russian-Swedish war of 1709. A shield was per fess with or and gules. In the upper part there was a laurel wreath. In the lower part in a gules field a sword and a rifle in cross.

B.Kene project

 

 

At 16.02.1865 B.Kene worked out a project of a new emblem of the town. In an gules field the two crossed argent swords with or handles,accompained in the chief of the or laurel wreath in pale.In the canton there was an emblem of Poltavs'ka province.The shield is crown with an argent mauerkrone with three towers and frame with two or ears,which are twine with the ribbon of the Order of St.Alexander.
